January in Alaska

We welcomed the New Year hunkered down in our beloved cabin at Big Lake. Like a rookie, I forgot the camera at home, so there are no pictures of MJ's first trip to the cabin. It was cold. Our saving grace was there was no wind, just cold, really really cold. Once Chris got the stove going, we were toasty and comfortable (until the door opened). We stuck it out for two nights, but packed up and headed home when it hit -39. Yes, that is 39 degrees below zero.

With the New Year comes new adventures. MJ is now 5 months old and getting to be a big girl. She is trying out solid foods and wearing as much or more than she eats. We count ourselves lucky that she is healthy and happy - very happy.
